Visits
The Visits workspace is where reception books appointments and doctors run examinations. A visit carries everything about a single appointment: who the patient is, which doctor and specialty, the examination record, and the charges.
Booking a visit
Open the booking drawer from the Visits page and work top to bottom:
Choose the specialty
The list of doctors filters to those who practice the chosen specialty.
Pick the doctor and subspecialty
Availability is checked against the doctor's weekly schedule for the date you pick. The subspecialty determines which examination template loads later.
Select or create the patient
Search existing patients, or add a new one inline without leaving the drawer.
Add a service and time
Choose the booked service (its price resolves from the default price list) and a date and time that fits the schedule.
Prerequisites
You need a doctor with a specialty and an active schedule, a service catalog and a default price list, and the doctor must be authorized for the selected service. See Getting started if you haven't set those up yet.
Running the examination
Opening a visit loads its examination workspace. The form is driven by the visit's subspecialty (falling back to the specialty), so each discipline sees the fields that matter to it. During the visit the care team can:
- Record the examination and clinical notes.
- Add extra charges as services are delivered — each new charge starts as pending.
- Mark the visit completed when care is finished.
From visit to invoice
Charges added during a visit stay pending until they're billed. Reception then groups a visit's pending charges into an invoice and collects payment — covered in Financial & billing.
